Back on August 27, TAO ripped 12.9% in a single day. The alert at the time was blunt: shorts got squeezed out, broad crypto market tailwind did the rest — no TAO-specific news, no code update, nothing underneath it.
Our 30-day tracking had already flagged this pattern: every time TAO's stance got upgraded to cautiously bullish or bullish, the rally cracked within days. This round followed the script — by August 31 the call was cut back to neutral, on a third straight down day that widened the 7-day loss, with TAO's ratio against bitcoin sliding toward a 30-day low too.
The numbers now: TAO trades at $221.94, up 2.8% in the last 24 hours but down 13.4% over 7 days — the worst 7-day performer among the coins we track — sitting 13.8% below its 7-day high. SOL had its own short-squeeze spikes the same day (+13% and +10.5% in two bursts), but that's SOL's story, not evidence the two moves are connected.
Squeezes are never about how fast price jumps. It's about whether real buying shows up to hold the line. This time it didn't. History says it rarely does.
