On the surface, DOGE just had a strong week — up 12.8% in 7 days, now trading at $0.0912, just 3% off its 7-day high. But the real story is in what changed underneath.
First layer: on Sep 4, the mining hashrate metric that had backed our prior bearish stance flipped — a weekly hashrate decline of 23.7% turned into a 48% jump. That reversal alone was enough to move our stance from cautiously bearish to neutral. Not bullish yet, just the bearish case losing its footing.
Second layer: on Sep 6, two fresh signals showed up that weren't there before — on-chain transfer activity jumped from noise-level to +30.6% over 7 days, and DOGE's exchange rate against Bitcoin climbed to the 84th percentile of its 30-day range. Both point to real usage and relative strength improving, which is why we upgraded further to cautiously bullish.
Worth separating out: two short_squeeze price alerts also hit on Sep 3 and Sep 5 (+6.9% and +5.8%), driven by forced short liquidations — a different mechanism entirely from hashrate or transfer activity. Squeezes are leveraged, short-lived; the fundamental signals move slower and matter more if they hold.
If hashrate and transfer activity keep holding up, this rally looks less like a pure short squeeze and more like something with actual participants behind it. But the sample is still short — worth watching whether it holds over the next few days.
