TAO一周跌超10%排名垫底,但两次暴涨的资金费率却"很健康"——买盘故事到底是真是假?TAO Down 10.8% This Week, Yet Its Rally Funding Rates Looked "Clean" — So What's the Real Story?

TAO's down 10.8% this week despite "clean" funding on its past rallies — no leverage isn't the same as real staying power

The story going around was that TAO's rallies were "clean" — funding rates stayed neutral even during big pumps, supposedly proving real cash was buying in, not leverage. That narrative looks shaky now: TAO is the worst performer among tracked assets this week, down 10.8% over 7 days, still falling 3.0% in the last 24 hours, and sitting 15.9% below its 7-day high — the steepest drawdown in the group.

The counter-evidence isn't nothing, though. Back on Aug 27 and Sep 7, TAO spiked 10.1% and 8.5% respectively, and funding rates stayed neutral both times — ruling out a leveraged blow-off. But "not leveraged" was never the same as "sustainable." That distinction was never confirmed, and our internal thesis tracking flagged exactly that gap.

On Sep 14 we downgraded TAO from cautiously bullish to neutral — our most recent stance shift on the asset in the past week — right as this stretch of weakness took hold.

A third read: maybe TAO's problem was never leverage, it's staying power. Clean funding proves nobody was over-leveraging long, not that real buyers kept showing up. The tell to watch is whether funding rates tick back up once price stabilizes — that would say buyers are actually returning. If the grind lower continues while funding stays flat, the "real buying" story may just be over.
