TAO一周四次反复横跳:挤空涨出来的行情,为什么OI一动不动?TAO Swung 4 Times in a Week — But Open Interest Never Moved. Here's Why That Matters

2026-10-19
TAO一周四次暴涨暴跌,但挤空行情里OI纹丝不动——这波涨势到底有没有真买盘?TAO swung wildly 4 times in a week, but open interest never moved during the squeezes — is anyone actually buying?

Bottom line first: TAO's recent swings look less like real demand and more like leveraged shorts getting squeezed out repeatedly — and there's no sign of trend-level support yet.

Here's the evidence. On Oct 13, TAO dropped 10.2%, and OpenClue's alert tagged it as beta_market_move — just following the broader market, not TAO-specific. On Oct 16, TAO then posted two separate short-squeeze rallies in one day, +10.1% and +11.3%. But the alerts themselves flagged "no accompanying news" and "no strong signs of new buying support" in order flow and volume. More telling: open interest (OI, a gauge of leveraged position size) didn't budge through either move, and liquidation activity nearly stopped. Price went up while the leverage stack underneath stayed flat — a classic sign that shorts were capitulating, not that fresh capital was coming in. OpenClue's thesis tracking over the past two weeks shows the stance flipping back and forth between cautiously bullish and neutral: rallies with no added leverage nudge it up, but any leveraged long liquidation knocks it back down. That oscillation itself tells you no side has secured durable control.

One caveat worth noting: the closest historical comparison to the Oct 16 squeezes was TAO's own earlier rally that same day — which reversed within hours. That's a reference point, not a rule. If OI eventually starts rising alongside price, that would signal real new capital (leveraged or spot) entering, and the "leverage illusion" read would need to be dropped.

TAO now trades near $272.30, up 1.4% on the day but still down 6.0% over seven days and 6.4% off its weekly high. The call breaks if a future rally comes with OI clearly expanding and liquidations shrinking — that's when "real buying" replaces "squeeze." Until then, flat OI means these bounces can unwind just as fast as they appeared.
