BTC ETFs Bleed Again as Fear Index Hits 26 — Our Bearish Call From Oct 30 Still Holds

2026-11-03
BTC ETFs just logged a second straight day of outflows ($399M) as fear hits 26 — our Oct 30 bearish call hasn't flipped yet.

Start with the timeline. On Oct 30, the Binance hack — an extreme external shock — broke BTC's two-week range, and OpenClue shifted its stance from neutral to cautiously bearish that same day. TAO also fell 10.3% that day, but the alert flagged it as following the broader market selloff, not a TAO-specific issue.

Fast forward: on Nov 2, Bitcoin spot ETFs saw a single-day net outflow of $399 million — the second straight day of outflows. Ethereum ETFs have now gone six straight days of net outflows. The same day, the Fear & Greed Index dropped to 26, the gloomiest reading in a week. Total stablecoin market cap shrank 1.91% over seven days, suggesting money is leaving crypto broadly, not just rotating.

Today (Nov 3), there's no sign of a reversal: BTC sits at $77,229, down 0.6% in 24 hours, down 3.8% over seven days, and 5.5% below its 7-day high. This lands on a day when US stocks are open and midterm elections are underway — both institutional and retail risk appetite look tighter, not looser.

Worth separating: ZEC's two double-digit drops this week were tagged as long-liquidation cascades, a different driver from the ETF outflow story — they shouldn't be lumped together.

The open question: does the ETF outflow + falling fear index confirm the Oct 30 bearish stance still holds, or is this just election-day caution? The next thing to watch is whether outflows stop once US markets digest the election — if not, the bearish case could deepen; if flows reverse, this may just be a short-lived risk-off blip.
